Hot Chocolate and Ice

School was closed today for President's Day, so the kids went to day camp.  I picked them up after lunch because the weather was predicted to get bad...it was already sleeting and freezing rain was falling.
they asked for hot chocolate and a movie
 the icing has begun!

The Polar Express

On the way home this afternoon, we took a detour to surprise the kids with a ride on the Polar Express.  They wore their pjs, sang Christmas carols, sipped on hot chocolate, ate cookies, and visited with Santa.  They also got their tickets punched by the conductor.  They were really surprised and had a wonderful time!

Having a great time
you couldn't get him away from the window

We sang "12 Days of Christmas" and our family was the "3 French Hens"

The After (Birthday) Party

After Cooper's birthday party, we came home and let the kids burn off some energy since it was a nice day outside.

bike races are a common happening around here!
 three amigos!
Reagan still loves to ride her scooter
the dump truck usually makes an appearance
Cooper helped me take this self portrait
the girls played "secret agent spies"
 I love this girl!
 posing for the camera
moving to the backyard and the sandbox
building "big sandcastles"
 Dasher, Dancer & Prancer
Greg built a fire in the fire pit so the kids could roast marshmallows and have some hot chocolate
I stayed in the Thanksgiving mood ~ and none of the kids even noticed my head dress!
Greg, Papaw & Bubba helped with roasting marshmallows
the kids would rather eat the marshmallows out of the bag
Reagan put a marshmallow on the stick and then directly in her mouth
hot cocoa is the perfect ending to the night
 enjoying each other's company
Another big event for "Birthday Boy" - he slept in his bed without bed rails for the 1st time.  He did great, no falls ~ I think all the partying wore him out...he didn't move a muscle all night!
except when I took his picture!  But this is where we found him the next morning!
