Double the Homework

Last week, Cooper was moved into a new class at school ~ he's now with the kids who will be in kindergarten with him (I can't believe I just typed that!  In 18 months, my baby boy will be in school.)  They are working on learning their letters.  This week's letter is "O".  And for the first time, he had homework ~ practice writing the letter "O" and color the animals whose name begins with the letter "O".

a boy hard at work
he took his homework very seriously
 precious hands
 such concentration
the finished work - he wrote the "COO" and I helped with the rest of his name.  All the other "Os" on the paper are all his!
He colored the otter, ostrich, and the octopus ~ pink and purple "just for Reagan"
while Cooper worked on his homework, Reagan did some art for Valentine's Day
Sweet Reagan story~
Mom: Reagan, do you know how much I love you?
Reagan: With all your heart!  Do you know how much God & Jesus love us?
Mom: How much?
Reagan: More than you'll ever know!

Girl Scout Camp

Schools were closed for the MLK Holiday, so Reagan decided she would like to give the Girl Scout Camp a try.  She was so excited about going ~ she was hoping she was going to be able to sell cookies today and be able to wear a uniform.  Sadly for her, that didn't happen today, but she did make lots of crafts and many new friends.

such a big girl going to camp where she didn't know anyone
They must have talked about what they wanted to be when they grow up at camp because this is the conversation that we had when I picked her up~
Reagan:  I'm going to marry Bryson when I grow up.
Mom: You are?
Reagan: Yes, and I'm going to stay home with the children while he goes out and tells people about Jesus everyday.
Mom:  That sounds wonderful.  What are you going to do when the children go to school?
Reagan:  I guess I'll get a job.
Mom:  What kind of job are you going to get?
Reagan:  I think I'll be a teacher.

How sweet that she and her "husband" want people to know about Jesus!  I'm so proud of her!

Cute Conversations with Reagan

Reagan: How old were you when you found a daddy?
Mom: Do you mean your daddy?
Reagan: Yes, how old were you?
Mom: 20 and then we got married at 23
Reagan: I"m going to wait until I'm 20 too. I'm going to tell Aydan today that I can't marry him.
Mom: That's a fantastic idea!

Reagan: Did you know that there's a baby that shoots people and makes them fall in love?
Mom: There is?
Reagan: Yes, but I don't know if you get back up after you fall.

Conversations with Reagan

Our church has a cemetery on one side of it. As we were driving around the cemetery to find a parking spot, Reagan exclaimed "I see dead people!"
"You what?"
"See those flowers? That's where dead people live"

Sweet Sleep

This is how I found Cooper when I went to wake him from his Sunday afternoon nap. He likes to put all of his pillows in a circle and sleep in the middle of them! He had sweet dreams for over 3 hours!!

How sweet is this?
The face of an angel!
Little boy in big bed

Speaking of sweet, yesterday my mouth, jaw, and face had been hurting from a filling I had put in last week...when we put Reagan to bed she asked me to step outside her room because she wanted to pray by herself. Tears were streaming down my face when I heard her asking God & Jesus to make my face feel better because she didn't want her mommy to hurt anymore. It was so sweet, I'm so blessed to have a little girl who will pray for me.

Kids at Play

This afternoon when we got home, the weather was not as hot as it had been for the last few weeks. So we took advantage of it and played outside.

Cooper waiting for his turn to have a chalk outline of his body
now it's Reagan's turn
Reagan wanted to ride her scooter
Cooper, you guessed it...the lawn mower!

Cooper tried out his scooter for the first time. He wants to do whatever Reagan does!
Posing for the camera
Leading the way!

On the way to school this morning, Reagan inquired, "How many days are we going to have to do this kindergarten? I thought it was only one, but we just keep going and going."
I asked her if she had fun at kindergarten and she said she did, she just wanted to know how long she was going to have to go!

Backpack, Backpack

Yet another day of school for Reagan (I know you're wondering if I'm going to take a picture every school day for the next 13 years of Reagan walking into school....it's a thought!), but today she had a new accessory. Mamaw and Papaw sent Reagan a new backpack to begin her kindergarten career ~ complete with a turtle. Hopefully, this will suffice for the pet turtle she's still asking for!!

It's just so sweet and so sad all at the same time!
She is REALLY tired of me taking pictures of her every day
just precious
On the way home from school today, Reagan was talking about the seasons and she asked what season she was born in. I told her she was born in the spring. And she commented, "Oh yeah, I knew that. That's when the trees and flowers grow the most." I told her that was right and how proud of her I was for knowing that.
She replied, "I'm so smart, I've been in school a long time...like 3 days!"
Who knew you could learn so much in just 3 days of kindergarten?!?

The First Day

Today was the day....Reagan's first day of kindergarten. She was so excited this morning. She woke up bright and early, but had to ask a couple of questions ~ "do kindergartners watch cartoons?" and "can kindergartners eat biscuits for breakfast?". After breakfast, she dressed herself, combed her hair and then asked me to help her with her hair bow.

Ready for her first day
giving dad a hug bye
"I can't go with you today buddy, I'm in kindergarten now"
Walking into school
going down the hall to her classroom
Ms A offered to take a picture of me and Reagan this morning
Getting right to work
I think she was a little annoyed with all the pictures
Reagan and Emma are classmates!
Her friend Aydan also goes to her school, but in a different class. As soon as they saw each other they ran and gave one another a BIG hug!
I picked her up from school today ~ she looked so sweet (and little) waiting outside for me
She had a great day ~ Ms A said she had very good behavior and she could tell Reagan was going to be an excellent student!
After school, we went for a special treat at Chick-fil-a
She was being so silly!

  • When we went to the orientation Monday, the PTA was selling t-shirts with the school's mascot on it ~ a red cougar. I asked Reagan if she would like me to buy her a shirt and she said, "No, it's not pretty, it's red. Maybe I'll wear one when they get pink ones!"
  • Last night, we were going over the school menu...
Mom: "Reagan would you like to buy your lunch at school or take it in your lunchbox?"
Reagan: "Are we going somewhere to eat?"
Mom: "no, you can buy your lunch at the school."
Reagan: "They have a restaurant at my school?"
Mom: "Well..."
Reagan: "I want to eat at the restaurant at my school! Yes, eat at the restaurant!"
  • This morning as I was getting ready to leave Reagan in her class, I asked if I could have one more hug. Reagan said, "I gave you one already, don't you remember?"
  • When I picked her up, I asked what she learned at school today. She said, "I'm not telling you, it's kindergarten stuff." When Greg asked what she learned, she told him "we learned some pretty hard stuff today!"
  • I asked what she had for lunch today..."I had ravioli, corn, I didn't eat my peaches, bread and milk. They have the BEST milk ever!" She commented to Greg about how good the milk was too!

Day at the Lake

We spent our Saturday at the lake with Gigi and Bubba. We were worried the weather wouldn't cooperate, but the skies finally cleared and we were able to spend several hours swimming and riding on the boat.

Taking a rest before swimming

Cooper jumping of the boat

Reagan was brave and jumped off the boat too, but I was in the water and didn't capture it on video ~ maybe next time!
Reagan has said some of the funniest things lately. Her latest comments today were:
~after jumping into the water: "I got water in the talker on my face (her mouth) and it feels funny"
~ after a big boat went by and seeing the waves coming toward us: "Oh my holy, holy, holy cow!"
