Backpack, Backpack

Yet another day of school for Reagan (I know you're wondering if I'm going to take a picture every school day for the next 13 years of Reagan walking into school....it's a thought!), but today she had a new accessory. Mamaw and Papaw sent Reagan a new backpack to begin her kindergarten career ~ complete with a turtle. Hopefully, this will suffice for the pet turtle she's still asking for!!

It's just so sweet and so sad all at the same time!
She is REALLY tired of me taking pictures of her every day
just precious
On the way home from school today, Reagan was talking about the seasons and she asked what season she was born in. I told her she was born in the spring. And she commented, "Oh yeah, I knew that. That's when the trees and flowers grow the most." I told her that was right and how proud of her I was for knowing that.
She replied, "I'm so smart, I've been in school a long time...like 3 days!"
Who knew you could learn so much in just 3 days of kindergarten?!?

School Days

Today was Reagan's 1st day of school with her entire class. Cooper and I took her to school and walked with her to her room.

Cooper leading the way...like he knows where he's going ~ he's never been here before!
I missed the actual hug, but it was very sweet!
Each day, this monkey will move further up the hall ~ parents can't go past it! I couldn't go with Reagan into her classroom today, but she didn't really seem to care. She was too busy meeting all of her new friends!

Not much exciting happening at our house this weekend...

watching cartoons and reading books before breakfast
pink pancakes for Reagan; yellow pancakes for Cooper
delicious pancakes
yummy
Reagan was back at her gymnastics class
she was much improved ~ walking on the high beam by herself
Ms Angela told her she was a big girl and could walk on the beam all by herself...and she did!
practicing her v-sit
swinging on the bars

front support all by herself
playing on the computer
This is a video of Reagan doing bunny hops on the high beam without a spot! I'm so proud of her!

Friday Fun

Reagan didn't have school today because they're phasing in the kindergarten class, so she and I spent her last day of freedom together. We took Cooper to school, I had a doctor's appointment, and then we went swimming! Unfortunately, Reagan's friends were at school, so she just had me to play with. Thanks Beth for letting us use your pool.

stepping into the ICE cold water
It's not too bad
After we swam for a little while, we had a picnic lunch
a photo of me and Reagan to commemorate the day
getting back into the COLD water
having a great time
she loves the water!
Snack time
Big bite of Jello

after a little more swimming, we changed clothes and played on the swing set
"we need one of these at our house!"

Cooper's Capers

Cooper has taken a liking to golf recently. He loves to play with Reagan's Gator Golf set. While he's not getting the ball in the gator's mouth, he sure can swing the club!!

"See me, ma?"

The First Day

Today was the day....Reagan's first day of kindergarten. She was so excited this morning. She woke up bright and early, but had to ask a couple of questions ~ "do kindergartners watch cartoons?" and "can kindergartners eat biscuits for breakfast?". After breakfast, she dressed herself, combed her hair and then asked me to help her with her hair bow.

Ready for her first day
giving dad a hug bye
"I can't go with you today buddy, I'm in kindergarten now"
Walking into school
going down the hall to her classroom
Ms A offered to take a picture of me and Reagan this morning
Getting right to work
I think she was a little annoyed with all the pictures
Reagan and Emma are classmates!
Her friend Aydan also goes to her school, but in a different class. As soon as they saw each other they ran and gave one another a BIG hug!
I picked her up from school today ~ she looked so sweet (and little) waiting outside for me
She had a great day ~ Ms A said she had very good behavior and she could tell Reagan was going to be an excellent student!
After school, we went for a special treat at Chick-fil-a
She was being so silly!

  • When we went to the orientation Monday, the PTA was selling t-shirts with the school's mascot on it ~ a red cougar. I asked Reagan if she would like me to buy her a shirt and she said, "No, it's not pretty, it's red. Maybe I'll wear one when they get pink ones!"
  • Last night, we were going over the school menu...
Mom: "Reagan would you like to buy your lunch at school or take it in your lunchbox?"
Reagan: "Are we going somewhere to eat?"
Mom: "no, you can buy your lunch at the school."
Reagan: "They have a restaurant at my school?"
Mom: "Well..."
Reagan: "I want to eat at the restaurant at my school! Yes, eat at the restaurant!"
  • This morning as I was getting ready to leave Reagan in her class, I asked if I could have one more hug. Reagan said, "I gave you one already, don't you remember?"
  • When I picked her up, I asked what she learned at school today. She said, "I'm not telling you, it's kindergarten stuff." When Greg asked what she learned, she told him "we learned some pretty hard stuff today!"
  • I asked what she had for lunch today..."I had ravioli, corn, I didn't eat my peaches, bread and milk. They have the BEST milk ever!" She commented to Greg about how good the milk was too!

Open House

This afternoon was the kindergarten orientation/open house at Reagan's school. We met her teacher, Ms A, and the teaching assistant, Ms G. Reagan also met all of her new classmates ~ all 23 of them. There are 14 boys and 9 girls in the class.

Reagan was so excited ~ I was so sad...she just shouldn't be this old and ready to start kindergarten. She does know a couple of kids in her class already, so that makes me feel a little (very little) more at ease. We'll see how I am on Thursday, her first official day of school!

The kids all sat on the carpet as they came to orientation
Ms A introducing herself to the children
Ms A asked them to raise their hands if they were excited about starting kindergarten.
Ms A read a story about starting kindergarten to the kids, then they were allowed to go outside on the playground while the parents learned all about what they would be doing in kindergarten this year.

Of course, I was the only parent there with a camera. But I couldn't let this momentous occasion pass us by without a picture or two (or 10!). I hope I didn't embarrass Reagan too bad!
