Splotchy

Cooper woke up this morning with a rash covering most of his body.  After a trip to the doctor's office, Cooper was on the road to recovery.  The doctor said that his rash was an allergic reaction to something, but since we hadn't changed laundry detergent or he hadn't eaten something strange, it's really hard to determine what it is.  Hopefully, it will clear up within a day or so.
Cooper was pitiful ~ he was crying and asked if he was going to look this way forever.
Since it was lunch time when he got back to school, I stayed and ate with him.

XRays

Cooper got his first xray this morning.  He'd been complaining of his foot hurting...so much so that he asked to go to the doctor.  The xrays turned out to be normal; looks as if he just strained his ankle.

The Eyes Have It!

Reagan has been complaining of itchy eyes and excessively blinking over the past few months.  After her appointment was postponed due to the snow & ice, she was able to see the optometrist today.

The doctor said she didn't need glasses yet (although she is a teensy-bit near sighted) and gave her eye drops to help with the dry eyes (to stop the blinking) and also gave her an antibiotic because she has allergies in her eyes which causes the itchiness.

Cooper's Kindergarten Physical

My boy's growing up.  Today we went to the doctor for Cooper to get his kindergarten physical.  Here are his stats at 5 1/2 years old:  weight 42lbs, 4oz - 44%; height 46" tall - 82%; BMI 8%; blood pressure 98/58.  The nurse said he was a lean, mean machine!!
having his bp taken
After the doctor examined him, Cooper had to get 4 shots in the thigh.  He barely flinched.  After the first set of shots he said, "ouch, that hurt!"  No tears, no nothing.  Cooper is one brave boy!

Weigh In

Cooper had his follow up appointment this afternoon.  The doctor wanted to see if he was able to maintain his weight from his last weight check before deciding what to do next.

Thankfully, Cooper has gained 1.5 pounds...Praise the Lord!

Dr B wants to do another weight check in 4 more weeks just to make sure, but he feels certain that there is absolutely no medical reason why Cooper dropped a few pounds.  He thinks it was just a phase of not eating.  As for his belly hurting, if his complaints get more frequent, we'll go for an ultrasound just to be thorough, but at this point, Dr B doesn't think it's necessary or that it would show anything.

my healthy baby big boy!

To Work, Doctor & Play

Cooper's school was closed today and he had a follow up doctor's appointment, so he spent the morning at work with me!

here we are at one of my doctor's offices ~ Cooper was a big hit at breakfast!
because he had to get BOTH arms stuck today, Cooper got 2 balloons  (He did great again today, no crying!)
orange for Tennessee of course ~ Go Vols!
I was trying to get a picture of both his arms, but he just wanted to watch cartoons ~ thus the pouty face!
Cooper and I picked Reagan up a little early from school, met our friends and then went to get Greg at his office.  We drove to Columbia, SC and had dinner...
then went swimming at our hotel.  This was the first time Reagan and Cooper had stayed in a hotel.
BIG ADVENTURE IN STORE FOR TOMORROW!

Cooper the Trooper

I took Cooper to the doctor this afternoon because he just hasn't been himself lately.  He still runs, jumps and plays, but he has been complaining of his tummy hurting for about 3 weeks and doesn't eat more than a couple of bites of anything.  He even refuses snacks saying, "I don't want it, it make my tummy hurt".

At the doctor's office, they couldn't find anything wrong upon physical examination, but wanted to draw blood and get a urine sample.  Cooper was so brave ~ I thought it was just going to be a finger stick, BUT he had to have a regular blood draw.  I can't tell you how proud I was of him ~ he didn't even flinch or whimper (although I thought his heart was going to beat out of his chest!).  All Cooper said was "that hurts me a little bit mommy".  Such a brave boy!

After the visit, he got to ride on the dinosaur
he wanted to know if this dinosaur could come home with us!
 look at his smile!
showing off his band-aid (the sad face is because his balloon just flew away)

Friday Fun (or Not!)

Tonight was the Fall Festival at Cooper's school. We went shopping for costumes last week and when looking at all the choices, Cooper had a hard time deciding what he wanted to be. He first wanted to be a butterfly ~ no, that's not going to work. "I be a ladybug mommy?" No, that's not going to work either! Then he went back and forth between the butterfly and the ladybug a few more times before settling on something a little more masculine...

...a race car driver!
He is just so precious!
the costume came with a hat to match, but Cooper decided he liked his Crazy Crab hat much better!
I think he really likes this costume! A camera was sent with daddy to the festival, but there were no pictures taken...
Where was Reagan during all this excitement? She had picked out her costume last week too, but she spent the evening at Urgent Care
She didn't act like she felt well before school today, but said she wanted to go anyway. I told her to have Ms A call me if she didn't feel well, but I didn't get a call from school. Once she got to the after school program, Ms K called and said Reagan didn't look good, she wasn't playing, wouldn't eat her snack, and said she "just wanted mamma"
Reagan had a 103.8 degree fever and was diagnosed with Strep. She has just been blah all evening. Bless her heart, she looks so pitiful. I wish it were me instead of her.

The doctor gave her an antibiotic and said she should be feeling better in about 48 hours! I hope so, I can't stand to see her looking and feeling like this.

Kindergarten Physical

Yesterday, Reagan went to the doctor for her kindergarten physical. She did very well considering she had to get FOUR shots!

Here are her stats: 5 years old
40.0 pounds
3'6" tall
BMI: 16.0
BP: 88/76
Vision: 20/20
She's in great physical shape for kindergarten (now if I could just get in emotional shape!)
Getting her blood pressure checked for the 1st time
After the visit, she played with the triceratops. She made sure to tell all the doctors and nurses what type of dinosaur he was and that he is a herbivore!
A special treat - an ice cream sundae with mom
Delicious!

TWO

Cooper is now 2 years old! Reagan & I sang "Happy Birthday to You" this morning and he seemed to enjoy it, but when Greg sang to him tonight, Cooper kept saying, "SHHH, no dada". Maybe it was his voice!! Cooper had a party at school with his friends and then a trip to the doctor's office for a check up.

Surprise! It's my birthday!
He liked it when Reagan and I sang to him. He would say, "I two, I two" Reagan wanted her picture made this morning too
At the doctor's office
Getting weighed & measured (30.2 lbs, 36 inches tall)
Reagan had a check up with the doctor today also
She was a very big girl letting Dr B check her out (38 lbs, 40 inches tall)
It's always fun to play with the dinosaur after a doctor visit
Another birthday celebration at home
Cooper loves cupcakes
Picking out stickers at the doctor's office (not sure why this is out of order)

Cooper received a birthday phone call from mamaw & papaw
He had a lot to tell them

He loves to talk on the phone
