Kindergarten Field Day 2011

Reagan's school held their annual Field Day for the kindergarteners today.  It was a beautiful, sunny day.  The kids had a great time and were completely exhausted by the end of the day!

sitting on their towels waiting for the 1st event to begin
My favorite kindergarten girl
Reagan's first event ~ the torch relay
Run Reagan!
Her team came in 3rd place
the 2nd event ~ the bucket pick up and put down
they had to pick up a cow bell at one station...
a stuffed animal at a 2nd station, run around a cone and put them back
Her team came in 7th in this relay
Next was the plunger ball race
it was very hard keeping the ball on top of the plunger
sometimes, you had to cheat and use 2 hands!
or, the ball would fall!  (Her team came in 3rd in this event too, but she wouldn't let me get a picture of her)
the last event was the noodle race
all the girls had to hold onto the noodle and run ~ teamwork!
Her team came in 4th on this event
After lunch, they had a "tug of love" contest
Ms A's class competed against another kindergarten class
PUUULLLLLLLL, PUUUULLLLLLL
Ms A's class won!!
Next girls from each class competed against each other
Reagan trying to get her team fired up!
go girls!
Heave, Ho; Heave, Ho
Ms A's girls won!!!
Ms A's kindergarten class 2010 - 2011
How sweet are they?
After tug of love, they were rewarded with popcicles
why is it so hard to get a natural smile out of her?
the classes then went to the egg on a spoon race
careful, don't drop it
balance, balance
Reagan's team tied for 1st in this event ~ they put 8 eggs in the basket in 5 minutes
On to the hula hoop contest
Reagan needs a little work here (I can't help her, I can't hula hoop either!)
We went into the gym to play Star Wars (kind of like dodge ball, but a lot more rules)
Once your hit with a ball, you have to sit and wait for an ambulance driver to come pick you up.  Then, after 5 jumping jacks, you become the ambulance driver so the other player can get back in the game ~ confusing I know!  Here's Reagan being the ambulance driver, waiting on her patient
Reagan picking up her patient.  Not many pictures of this event ~ parents got to play this game with the kids!  I was exhausted by the time the game was over!
Last of the day was Water Play
they had several pools set up with sponges, water bottles, and other toys to play with
Since they were the last class to play in the water, they were the only ones who got to get in the pools
Relaxing at the end of a long day!

Practice makes Perfect

Cooper's team had another practice tonight.  He has improved so much over the past couple of months ~ we are so proud of him!

Getting in "baseball position"
Fielding the ball
throwing the ball back to Coach C
he caught it!
During practice, Reagan played on the playground.  So of course after practice Cooper had to come join in on the fun!
I think this may have been his 1st time on a see-saw
Reagan is a great big sister
Reagan had been working on a "show" and wanted to perform for me
Cooper wants to do everything just like Reagan
Cooper has just started sleeping without his bed rails.  He likes to hang his head off the bed, so we have to go check on him before we go to bed just to make sure he's sill got blood flow.  (Have I mentioned he is a hoarder?  He loves to have his bed FULL of things ~ pillows, Mickey, elephant, blankets, and his newest obsession...a pink foam door hanger.  But, as always, his thumb and pointer finger are in his mouth!)

Hop to it!

Sunday evening, we were having pretty bad thunderstorms and wind.  So, Greg went outside to make sure the recycle bin still had all of its contents.  When he came back in, he thought he had a leaf on his shoe, so he tried to kick it off.  It wasn't a leaf, but rather a frog.  I wasn't sure if Reagan and Cooper had ever seen a real-life frog, so I got our "critter catcher" and he (or she) hopped right in!  The next morning, Reagan and Cooper were excited to see the visitor that had spent the night with them!

Heeeerrrreeee's Froggie!
Cooper was so excited when a frog was on his cartoon that he wanted the froggie to watch it with him
Sadly, we had to let the frog go before school.  We didn't have any frog food and not enough space (according to the internet) to keep this type of frog.  (Not to mention, I was afraid the frog would expire before we got home and that would be a whole other drama filled event)
It was a long, tearful good-bye
bye-bye froggie
come back to visit
Cooper tried to catch the frog as he jumped back to his family
