This morning as I was washing dishes, I saw something running across the yard out of the corner of my eye. I assumed it was a cat, but I've never really seen any cats in the neighborhood ~ so I thought I must be imagining things. Then a few minutes later, I saw it again. I walked outside and noticed that it wasn't a cat, but a big rabbit. I thought to myself, that is an awful big wild rabbit.
I looked over at our neighbor's house and noticed that the lid to their rabbit cage was open. Uh-oh! After 20minutes, I finally found their cell phone number and called Mr D to let him know his son's rabbit had escaped. While I waited for him to get home, I was the animal whisperer of the neighborhood ~ keeping and eye on the rabbit and trying to keep Lucy the dog away.
Mr D finally arrived home and the chase began. We must have chased the rabbit for 30minutes before catching it and returning her to the cage! I'm sure all of the neighbors thought we were crazy running around in the wet grass (him in a suit and me in workout clothes!). But, the rabbit is safe and sound.
When the son got home from school, he brought me flowers for letting them know the rabbit had escaped and keeping it safe.
aren't they beautiful?
