The Dentist

Today was dental day for the Sandidge kids. This was Reagan's 4th visit and Cooper's very 1st time to meet Dr Jones.

So far, so good...the office has trains
It's looking good!
Cooper refused to let the hygienist brush his teeth. "I do it myself"
Reagan was a big girl as usual
No cavities for Reagan!
There are no pictures of Cooper in the hygienist's chair because he.was.not.happy.at.all. He gritted his teeth, pursed his lips together and would not let her look at his teeth. I was basically laying on his legs and holding his arms down while he bucked and bucked! The dentist was able to take a quick peek at his teeth and said we were headed down the road of orthodontics with Cooper ~ partly because of heredity, partly because of his thumb & index finger sucking. She didn't see any problems with his teeth and said he was a cute, cute boy! I already knew that!

Time for a Check Up

Today was Reagan's semi-annual visit to the tooth doctor. It was also picture day at school, so she was excited to wear her new dress to the dentist and school.

Making sure everything is in place!
She told me, "When I look in this mirror, I am gorgeous!" ~ I have to agree Cooper wanted no part of having his picture made today ~ at home or at school ~ so we'll see if the photographer got any good shots because I didn't
Playing at the dentist's office
She has a look of concentration
this was the 1st time she let them use the "tickle brush" on her
She was so brave

the hygienist was very sweet to put up with all my picture taking (I did ask permission before I started taking pictures!)
time for x-rays
I am so proud of her
2 thumbs up from the dentist again this visit

Tooth Doctor

Today was Reagan's second visit to the dentist. While she still wouldn't let them use the electric toothbrush or scraper on her teeth, she was very brave and let them brush her teeth and paint fluoride on her pearly whites.

Letting the hygienist brush her teeth
Brusha, brusha, brusha
Waiting on the doctor to come and check her teeth
When will she get here?
Being a very big girl and letting Dr Jones look at her teeth with the mirror
When Reagan got back to school, she told every one she had been to the tooth doctor and had sparkling, clean white teeth!

The Tooth Doctor

Today was Reagan's 1st visit to the "Tooth Doctor". She had a very good check up and the doctor told us to keep doing what we're doing! Reagan was a perfect patient ~ I was so proud!

Ready to go in the office

Playing before her name is called

Is she going to do that to me?

Open wide All done
Reagan got "2 thumbs up" from the tooth doctor
One of her prizes was an eye patch ~ Reagan said she looked just like Captain Feathersword from the Wiggles! The dental hygienist helping pick out another prize
After her visit to the tooth doctor, we drove to Asheville to have lunch with daddy. Yes, it was a long drive there and a long drive back, but Reagan enjoyed seeing where daddy works and had a great lunch with him. Cute Reagan story: as we were eating lunch Reagan started counting, "1, 2, 3...hey where's my other family? We have 4 ~ Cooper's at school, he's my family too!"
Standing next to daddy's tractor
Look how big this tractor is!
She wanted to stand on the tractor, but didn't want to ride it ~ it's too loud!

The trees are beautiful this time of year. This picture was taken while I was driving and through the windshield (maybe I shouldn't have written that part!)

No Obvious Problems

Reagan had her 1st dental screening today, thanks to the school. This wasn't a complete cleaning/check-up, but was intended to get the kids comfortable with the dentist. The dental assistant checked in her mouth with a flashlight, reviewed good brushing techniques, and most importantly gave her a sticker, a toothbrush and a toothbrush cover for being a good girl. The report said she had "no obvious problems, and it is recommended all children see the dentist every 6 months for good oral hygiene". I guess I need to schedule our next doctor's appointment!
