Water Works

Since the temperature has been near 100 degrees for the past several days, we decided to bring out the sprinkler so the kids could get wet and cool off without making too much of a mess!

testing the waters

Cooper always has to drink the water

running around the water

trying to splash me with the water
still trying to drink the water
all that space and they stand side by side
Reagan trying to help the dead grass turn back to green

A fun time was had by all!

OOPS!

In an effort to clean the pool and the pool cover ~ I needed to let the pool cover dry....so, i spread it out on the grass and left it for a mere 24 hours. When I picked up said cover to fold it, this is what I found...
who knew a plastic cover on the grass in the blazing hot sun for 24 hours would do such a thing?
Actually, I think a UFO may have landed in our back yard!
At least it wasn't the front yard!
Lesson learned. You're welcome!

Happy Father's Day 2010

Happy Father's Day to Greg, my dad, and my father-in-law.

Reagan came up with a plan last night at bedtime to fix Greg a special, surprise breakfast. She picked out the menu and helped with cooking and setting the table.

eggs and pancakes with strawberries & blueberries in the shape of a heart. Milk to drink

Daddy and his kids
Take 2!
Cooper made this at school for Greg
Here's a picture I drew for you;
I cannot write, so it'll have to do;
So, I'm here to say;
Happy Father's Day!
Reagan also made Greg a card

And, on a totally unrelated subject, Cooper got a brand new (to him) bicycle. It has a handle that I can push him around the neighborhood with so I'm not breaking my back bending over pushing him. One of Reagan's former classmates had this bicycle at a field trip, and I asked his mom if I could buy it from her for Cooper when he outgrew it. She was so sweet and just gave it to me. I think Cooper will have many, many hours of fun with this tiger bicycle!

Happy Father's Day!

Saturday Stuff

Even with being at gymnastics camp all week, Reagan still wanted to go to her regularly scheduled gymnastics class today. There were only 3 kids in the class and 2 teachers ~ got to love that ratio!

warming up

pike stretches
stretching their torsos
splits
more bridges
Walking on the balance beam
practicing her high kicks
ice cream dips
preparing for the dismount
skin the cat ~ her favorite move
front support
After Cooper's nap, we went out for a bit. One of our stops was to a pet store. Since I found the turtle last week, Reagan has been asking to have a small one as a pet. Unfortunately (for her, not me!), it is illegal to sell turtles where we live.
Cooper had a blast in the pet store ~ "look ma, more fishes over here. There's a bird. I see a cat!" We've got to take these kids to a zoo...soon!

Snails
The videos always post at the bottom. So, here is a video of Reagan at gymnastics

Conversations with Reagan

Just wanted to capture some of the cute conversations I've had with Reagan over the past few months before they leave my memory.

I was putting on lipstick in the car one morning...
-Mommy, why are you putting on lipstick?
-I want to be beautiful.
-Beautiful like me?
-I could never be as beautiful as you!

Riding home from school one afternoon...
-Are we home yet?
-Yes (sarcastically)
-No we're not.
-Then why did you ask?
-Oh, I'll just wait and ask when we get home!

Reagan's class had been discussing what they want to be when they grow up...
-Mom, why do we have to be something when we grow up?
-Well, you can be a doctor, a teacher, a mommy, or anything you want to be.
-I don't want to be anything, I just want to be a plain ole kid!

We've been having quite a few discussions about heaven lately...
-Why do we go to heaven when we die?
-Because that's where Jesus lives and heaven is perfect.
-I don't want to go to heaven, I like Earth. I'll just stay here.

More heaven discussions...
-Why is heaven better than earth?
-Heaven is perfect, everybody is happy and no one is sick.
-I think earth is good.
-Earth is good like ice cream, but heaven is perfect like ice cream with sprinkles.
-What if I don't want to have sprinkles on my ice cream?

We were having a discussion about having another baby...
-Reagan, would you like another baby brother or baby sister?
-Why would I want that?
-Would you like another baby brother or baby sister to play with like Cooper.
-No, I'm the sister and Cooper's the brother. That's all a family needs.

The Turtle

On the way home from work today, I saw a turtle in the middle of the road. And, in a very unusual move for me (the non-animal person), I turned my car around, picked up the turtle and brought it home. I'm not sure what came over me, but I knew Reagan and Cooper would love seeing a turtle up close and personal.

Here is our new friend
Reagan kept saying, "he's just so cute!"

After a couple of hours of watching him, we decided to let him go so he could find his family. Reagan wanted to play with him a little while longer and thought it was so funny when the turtle walked between her legs.
Looking for his mommy
Reagan is pointing him in the right direction
She kept talking to the turtle telling him he would be ok with his family
We tried to get a picture of Reagan and the turtle, but he wouldn't cooperate!
this is one time she wanted her picture made!

Showing the turtle which way he needed to go
trying to feed him dinner before he went into the woods
Goodbye friend!

After the turtle went into the woods, Reagan kept saying how much she missed him and wanted to see him again. She also wanted to know if the turtle knew her name and if he missed her too!
the things I do for the love of my kids!
